Same year, the play won İlhan İskender Prize, and was performed by State Theatre in 1971-1972 season and won the Best Play of the Year award by Ankara Art Lovers Foundation.

The play Mikado'nun Çöpleri was staged by Turkish State Theatres in 1996, the leading roles played by Mehmet Gürhan and Tomris İncer. Finally Zeliha Berksoy directed it and Timuçin Esen and Devin Özgür Çınar played, the producer being Beşiktaş Municipality Kültür Sanat Platformu Prodüksiyon Tiyatrosu.
Melih Cevdet Anday, in his play tells about peoples' lives that are made up of their expectations that come to nothing, their sournesses, their inconsistencies and or contradistinctions, hesitations, their unhappiness due to heartbreakings, melancholies, anger explotions, rare happiness moments and consciously planned "game"s. The hidden clashes that lay deep down within them, the lubricity in man-woman relationships, the masks that are used to make the lies believable are all staged in the play in turns.
